Open For Service and Salesforce and Pride . . OH MY!

What a week!!  If you do not live in Indiana or Indianapolis, last week was Pride.  After all the media attention during the RFRA debacle, it was expected that the turnout for the festival was going to be the biggest EVER!  It certainly was, and congrats to the IndyPride team on a job well done.

Our friends at Salesforce and Outforce, (Salesforce’s LGBT employee resource group) invited us to join them and their group in the parade and festival.  They even hosted a private event that raised money for both Open For Service and Indiana Youth Group.  A HUGE thank you to the following businesses for providing raffle items:

·       Triton Brewing Company

·       Palegain Press

·       Best Chocolate in Town

·       CoasterStone

·       Artifacts Gallery

·       Breathing Space Yoga

·       Merrfeld Resumes & Coaching

·       Indy Humane Society

·       Eskenazi Health

·       Indy Eleven

·       317 Bride

·       Neck Up Design

·       Body Harmony Balance

·       Silver In The City

At last count, they have raised over $2500.00 for BOTH organizations.  We are so grateful for the support and this will help us expand to other areas and better promote our registered businesses.

On Saturday, we joined Salesforce and walked in the Cadillac Barbie Parade.  During the route we promoted our new text campaign (Text OPEN to 64586) that will keep you updated on the latest developments with Open For Service.  Another amazing company, RCI, donated a vacation to help us get the word out.  Throughout the day, we passed out cards and I even got to speak on the main state at Pride!!  We received a HUGE response, and we will announce the winner as soon as they call me back ;-).

I think the highlight, for me, was the overwhelming support from the community.  As I walked down the street in the parade, we could head roars and cheers for Open For Service.  As we passed out the cards to festival-goers, SO MANY people knew about the organization!  I spend a lot of my time looking at the numbers, whether that is social media, email newsletter lists, registered business lists, etc.  . . . I had not realized how Open For Service has motivated people to join this new community, and also made people feel supported in a new way.

I received a TON of good feedback on how to grow this organization and connect consumers with businesses that support diversity.  Rachel and I have begun building our, “punch list” and I am incredibly excited to grow our mission and expand into new cities.

Check out the pics from pride, TEXT “OPEN” TO 64586 and continue to be OPEN FOR SERVICE!
